Research activities
Sepideh’s research examines how reporting, regulation and governance shape organisational accountability to workers and wider society. A central strand explores labour rights and modern slavery across global value chains, with particular attention to worker voice, corporate responsibility and the relationship between disclosure and organisational practice.
Her interdisciplinary research includes comparative studies of labour and human rights reporting in Britain and Germany, corporate social responsibility reporting in China, and employment relations in Sri Lankan supplier companies. Her work on soft law regulation and labour rights reporting received a Highly Commended Paper Award in 2025.
Her research also extends to the intersection of accounting, finance and sustainability. Current collaborative projects examine responsible tax governance, board diversity, green bonds and investment efficiency, ESG-linked executive remuneration, and board independence and corporate credit risk. Together, these studies investigate how governance arrangements and financial mechanisms influence responsible business conduct and corporate outcomes.
Sepideh is Principal Investigator and academic lead for a training framework for local authorities as modern slavery first responders in England and Wales, developed with civil society organisations, practitioners and lived-experience contributors. She has also contributed research-informed written evidence to Parliament and serves on the Global Reporting Initiative’s Labour Project Advisory Group, contributing to the revision of international labour-related sustainability reporting standards.
Current Teaching

As Programme Leader for the MSc International Financial Management, she leads programme development and enhancement, supporting students’ academic progression and professional development. She also supervises doctoral researchers and has served as an external PhD examiner and examination chair at universities across the UK.
