Finance software

Datastream in the Financial Markets Lab

Train in our Financial Markets Lab and gain practical experience using Datastream, a widely used financial data platform. Access real-time and historical financial market data from around the world – the type of information used by financial professionals, advisers and business leaders.

Training is available as part of finance programmes, or you can sign up for extracurricular sessions. Once trained, you can book time in the Financial Markets Lab independently to develop your skills and explore financial data.

Datastream allows you to analyse complex financial data, research equities, bonds, mergers and acquisitions, apply financial formulas and create charts.

You can also take a free Datastream certification exam to demonstrate your knowledge and practical skills.

CIQ Pro Academy Certification

Use S&P Capital IQ Pro to access a comprehensive financial database through a desktop application or Excel add-in. You can explore company overviews and financial data online from your laptop or phone.

As a student, you can access Capital IQ Academy for free. This self-paced online training programme gives you a broad introduction to the main features of Capital IQ Pro. Once you complete the learning path, you’ll receive a certificate that you can add to your LinkedIn profile.

LSEG Workspace Certification

Use LSEG Workspace to explore company overviews and screen equities, bonds, mergers and acquisitions using financial data from across the markets.

You can also complete LSEG’s foundational certification to develop your knowledge of LSEG Workspace and demonstrate your skills using a platform widely used by financial market professionals.

Accounting software

OneSource

OneSource is a widely used corporate tax platform that helps to drive global tax compliance and accounting decisions. Students will use OneSource as part of their taxation module and compare producing tax computations manually with this comprehensive package.

Xero

Gain practical experience using Xero, a cloud-based accounting platform widely used by businesses. Develop industry-relevant digital accounting skills and work towards Xero certification, giving you a recognised credential to showcase to employers.
